Joseph Fulham Road
This became Joseph’s flagship store, the brief in this instance being ‘an Italian palazzo combined with Eileen Gray’. It was necessary to re-organise the awkward geometry of the space to create order and focus, maximising retail areas and making sufficient auxillary areas. A new shop window was created to bring daylight into the deepest part of the unit, and a central axis on which the stair to the basement was relocated, culminating in a full height mirror on the back wall to create volume and light. The finishes and fixtures were specified to maintain a glowing lightness throughout, with a combination of low voltage spot and metal halide fittings.
